OUR MONTESSORI WORLD
The Montessori Education Program at Vivek High School was pioneered in 2014 under the guidance of Ms. Meenu Sahi, Board Member of Vivek High School, Mohali, and Founder & Executive Director of Vivek High Montessori Institute, Chandigarh.
– Maria Montessori (The 1946 London Lectures, pg. 148)
The Montessori curriculum ensures that most learning activities are individualised, allowing each child to engage in tasks suited to their needs and level of readiness. They work at their own pace, repeating tasks to build a positive attitude toward learning itself.

CRITICAL THINKING & EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING PROGRAM
Academic
plans are thoughtfully designed through a well-scaffolded curriculum, with
clearly defined, age-appropriate and class-specific learning outcomes. In
alignment with the National Education Policy 2020 and the National Curriculum
Framework 2023, the academic framework emphasizes competency-based learning,
focusing on the development of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), critical
thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
For
Classes VI–X, the plans promote experiential learning and a “learning by doing”
approach, encouraging students to actively engage with concepts through
real-life applications, interdisciplinary connections, and skill-based
activities. Continuous and formative assessment practices are integrated to
support holistic development, ensuring that learning is meaningful,
learner-centered, and aligned with the evolving standards of the Central Board
of Secondary Education.
IAYP
The
International Award for Young People (IAYP) stands as a distinguished global
youth development program, inspiring students to extend their learning beyond
academics through service, skill enhancement, physical recreation, and
adventurous exploration. Advancing through its Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels,
participants nurture qualities of confidence, resilience, teamwork, and
empathy. For our students, IAYP has been a transformative journey of leadership
and self-discovery, equipping them to face challenges with courage and to
contribute meaningfully to society.

SWACHH BHARAT:
The Student Council
organized a month-long Swachh Vidyalaya Competition to promote cleanliness, hygiene, and a well-maintained school
environment every month in the session 2026-27. The initiative encouraged
students to take responsibility for their classrooms and develop a sense of
ownership.
The competition was supervised by the Student Council. Vice Environment Captains evaluated Grades 7 and 10, while Environment Captains assessed Grades 8 and 9. Inspections were conducted daily during breaks to ensure consistency even in the absence of students. Classes were judged on three key criteria: neatness (cleanliness of floors, desks, and dustbins), board display (creativity and presentation), and organisation (arrangement of furniture and materials).
Marks were awarded weekly to provide regular feedback. At the end of the month, total scores were calculated, and the class with the highest marks received the Swachh Class Trophy during a special assembly. The competition proved successful in maintaining cleanliness standards and strengthening environmental awareness.
EXTRA MARKS:
At Vivek High
School, we are proud to be empowered by Extra Marks Digital Learning Solutions.
Their interactive digital platform makes CBSE learning engaging and effective
by focusing on concept clarity and real-life application. As a pilot project,
they have also extended free exam preparation resources to our students.
TRINITY:
Our students
showcased exceptional talent in Trinity College London's renowned communication
and performance skills programme, earning 40 Distinctions and 11 Merits out of
51 enrolments. This esteemed programme, accredited in the UK and recognised
internationally, provides a structured syllabus to develop skills needed in
real life through English poetry, prose, and literature, from elementary to
advanced levels. The students are assessed by an External examiner from Trinity
College London and certificates are awarded to the students on the completion
of the examination.
TRIPS & VISITS
Educational
tours play a vital role in shaping students’ personalities. They provide opportunities
to explore cultural and historical heritage, encourage independence, and foster
teamwork. By adapting to new environments and challenges, students develop
confidence, curiosity, and resilience—qualities essential for strong character
building and becoming responsible explorers of the world.
● For Classes IV to VI, an educational tour was
organised from 1st – 3rd October 2025
with 113 students visiting KidZania,
Agra, and Fatehpur Sikri. At KidZania, students enthusiastically
participated in role-play activities such as doctors and firefighters, blending
fun with experiential learning. Their exploration of Fatehpur Sikri’s red
sandstone marvels, the Taj Mahal’s timeless beauty, and the grandeur of Agra
Fort provided valuable insights into India’s rich heritage. The trip was a
perfect blend of recreation, history, and hands-on learning, fostering
curiosity and growth.
● For Classes VII and VIII, a tour was conducted from 1st – 3rd October 2025 with 81 students
visiting Agra and Fatehpur Sikri.
The journey began with the spiritual grandeur of Akshardham Temple, followed by
the magnificent Taj Mahal, the historic corridors of Agra Fort, and the
architectural brilliance of Fatehpur Sikri, including Buland Darwaza, Panch
Mahal, and Salim Chishti’s Dargah. The experience was insightful and inspiring,
blending history, culture, and teamwork into an unforgettable learning
adventure.
● For Classes IX and X, a tour to Jaisalmer was organised from 30th September – 4th October 2025 with 98 students. Known as the Golden City of India, Jaisalmer captivated students with its majestic forts, vast sand dunes, and the warmth of Rajasthani culture. ACTIVITIES & PROGRAMMES : GUIDANCE & SPECIAL EDUCATION
Identification and Referral for Students with Special
Educational Needs
Referral
letters were issued to students who were suspected of having special
educational needs after conducting thorough informal assessments. These
assessments included classroom observations, review of academic performance,
and the collection of relevant information from teachers, parents, and other
concerned individuals. The purpose of this comprehensive process was to better
understand each child’s specific learning challenges and needs. This step is
essential to ensure that students receive timely and appropriate interventions.
This year, a children who required referral from the junior wing were referred
for psychoeducational evaluations.
Remedial Support and Academic Achievement of Children
With Special Needs (CWSNs)
Remedial
Special Education Sessions for Children With Special Needs (CWSNs) are provided
to identified students during their drop subject or activity periods, without
affecting their regular academic schedule. These sessions focus on
strengthening their weaker areas through targeted and individualized support.
Special educators use appropriate strategies and adapted materials based on
each child’s needs. The aim is to improve their academic and functional skills,
build confidence, and help them progress towards achieving their optimal
potential. Three children with special needs passed their board examinations
this year with excellent percentages.
Adolescence Education Programme on Puberty and
Well-being Awareness
The Adolescence
Education Programme was conducted for students of Grades 4 to 9, with separate
sessions for boys and girls to ensure comfort and openness. The programme
focused on creating awareness about menstruation, physical and psychological
well-being, and age-appropriate information related to puberty and behavioural
changes. Students were guided about the changes they experience during
adolescence, along with healthy practices, emotional management, and responsible
behaviour. The sessions aimed to build awareness, promote positive attitudes,
and help students understand and manage this stage of development with
confidence. These sessions were conducted by qualified doctors from Amar
Hospital, who are experts in their respective fields.
Jagriti Special Section
The Jagriti
Special Education Section, established on August 1, 2022, currently supports
seven students with special educational needs, including five with Autism
Spectrum Disorder, one with Intellectual Disability, and one with Hearing
Impairment. The section ensures equal access to education and promotes holistic
development for all learners. Each student follows an adapted curriculum suited
to their individual potential and abilities. Individualized Education Plans
(IEPs) are developed for every child to address their specific needs and
provide focused support. The section also promotes inclusivity through
participation in festivals and cultural events, fostering a sense of belonging
and respect. Students are engaged in school-based activities and social
interactions to help them develop real-world skills. Connected classes further
support social and classroom participation, with a strong emphasis on dignity,
inclusion, and overall well-being.
LSEP
The Life Skill
Education Programme (LSEP) is an integral part of our curriculum for students
from Grade 4 to Grade 10, conducted through weekly sessions. Designed as a form
of group counselling, it uses activities, games, and interactive discussions to
engage students meaningfully. It teaches the CBSE’s 10 core life skills through
hands-on activities while emphasizing values that can be meaningfully
incorporated into daily life. By nurturing students’ innate abilities in a
supportive environment, LSEP prepares them to become responsible, self-aware,
and future-ready individuals through holistic development. These sessions also
enable counsellors to gain valuable insight into students’ needs and areas
requiring attention, allowing them to design targeted interventions. The
programme addresses key challenges such as stress management, emotional
regulation, substance misuse, time management, communication skills, and more.
Health and Wellness
The Health and
Wellness Club created awareness about good health and encouraged students to
take responsibility for their overall well-being. Conducted twice a year, the
Term I session included activities like “Taste Through Times,” where students
explored the simplicity and nutritional value of traditional foods. In Term II,
a session by the school nurse introduced basic first aid, equipping students
with essential knowledge and practical skills for everyday situations. The club
also promoted holistic wellness by addressing physical, mental, and emotional
health. Sessions on balanced nutrition and personal hygiene helped students
build healthy habits, while discussions on stress management and mindfulness
supported their emotional well-being. Students were encouraged to adopt
preventive health practices and make informed lifestyle choices.
Individual Counseling
We offer
one-on-one guidance and counselling sessions for students referred by teachers
based on observations and academic performance, as well as for those who seek
support on their own. Sessions are conducted during co-curricular periods,
providing a safe and confidential space to address psychological, behavioural,
and academic concerns. These interactions help uplift morale, build
self-esteem, strengthen peer relationships, and foster a better understanding
of family perspectives. Students are encouraged to step out of their comfort
zones and grow into more confident, resilient individuals. In sensitive cases,
including those requiring urgent attention, timely and appropriate support is
ensured.
Career Couseling
The Career
Guidance Programme also connected students with expert resource persons from
WONDERSKOOL, providing exposure to students of Classes IX and X to new and
emerging streams and subjects, helping them broaden their horizons and plan
future careers effectively. Students received guidance on building strong
portfolios and understanding university pathways, enabling informed academic
choices. Individual assessments were conducted for Class X to identify
strengths and interests and to encourage exploration of diverse and emerging
career opportunities. Personalized one-on-one report sharing and counselling
sessions helped align students’ abilities with suitable career paths. This
structured approach supported informed and confident career decision-making.
Anti-
Bullying Committee
The Anti-Bullying Committee worked to create a safe and supportive environment for students. Counsellors shortlisted members based on leadership and sensitivity, and regular meetings were held to discuss student well-being. Members were made aware of different forms of bullying and guided on reporting procedures and responsibilities. Counsellors monitored reports and intervened when required, helping maintain a positive and bullying-free school environment.
