ACADEMIC CURRICULUM

From Montessori Toddlers to Class III, careful planning ensures that students become lifelong learners when learning is fun and relevant. Boys & girls are admitted at age 2 in Montessori Toddlers . No formal instruction is given in the first year. However, we have a carefully planned multi-sensory approach that combines games, stories, music, phonetics etc. to enable - Physical, Motor and Cognitive development, Language, Emotional, Creativity, Aesthetic & Music appreciation.

At age 3 the child is introduced to the English Language through the Phonic system, and simple number work, mostly through the Play Way Method.

Special care is taken to inculcate discipline and good study habits. Through the recognition of multiple intelligence and using a layered curriculum, the Vivek staff provides the opportunity for students to direct their own learning within a framework crafted to help them succeed. The Preparatory curriculum is specially designed to lead seamlessly to the senior school programme.

At senior school, Class IV to Class X students are imparted a formal syllabus. Classroom teaching is complemented and supplemented with experiments, creativity, handwork, models and audio visual presentations, excursions group activity, library and Internet researches and projects and Smart Board classes. An important and exciting part of the academic environment at Vivek is the CRITICAL CHALLENGES ACROSS THE CURRICULUM. As a part of this system, the teaching of the content is based on helping the students understand the subject matter by providing continuing opportunities for thoughtful analysis of issues central to the curriculum. The students are trained to use the intellectual tools to facilitate their thinking and to develop resources to go beyond the text - book teaching. We have been very fortunate to draw on the experience and skills of Dr. Roland Case from Simon Frazer University, who imparted professional training for the teaching faculty of Vivek High through different training programmes.
